How it works

Upload an image and use the visual editor to drag the crop area exactly where you want it. Pick a preset aspect ratio or go freeform. Click crop and the tool cuts the image to your selection — entirely in your browser. The output keeps the original format (JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG).

When to use this

  • Cutting a headshot from a group photo. Pull just your face and shoulders from a wider shot for a profile picture or ID form.
  • Removing unwanted edges. Crop out a timestamp, a watermark, or distracting background from the edges of a photo.
  • Fitting a specific aspect ratio. Social media headers, thumbnails, and print layouts need exact proportions — crop to 16:9, 4:3, or square without guessing.
  • Need to resize after cropping? Use the resize tool to set exact pixel dimensions.

Common mistakes

  • Cropping too tight on a headshot. Leave some space around the subject — ID photos and profile pictures need breathing room around the face.
  • Expecting resolution to increase. Cropping removes pixels — the output is always smaller than the original. If you need a larger image, resize separately.
  • Forgetting the aspect ratio. If your upload target needs a specific ratio (1:1 for Instagram, 16:9 for YouTube), set it before cropping so the selection stays locked.
